Public Reviews
Upon entering The Steering Wheel, you'd think it was simply a small local intimate boozer where everybody knows each other name and you'd probably be right. We ordered a few pints and relaxed in the pub banter. However, upon noticing a beer garden on a security TV, we went looking for it. 'Upstairs' said a local 'give us a wave'. Not really knowing whether it was a joke or not we heaed upstairs where the entire top section opened up into a huge comfortable lounge area which was impressive but not as impressive as the beer roof.
There were picnic tables, coverings and heaters and a flat screen TV. This truly us a fantastic beer garden and we sat in the summer sunshine and enjoyed our pints while watching the football and the smokers amongst us were deligthed too.
The staff were friendly and efficient while the pints tasted great and weren't too damaging on the pocket. All said, we'd love to return soon and we don't think we'll leave it as long to visit this nugget of a pub which truly has something for every type of pub goer.

1. The Steering Wheel, or, the wheel as it is locally known is a handy little boozer.
Consisting of two levels, bar lower, lounge upper. The bar is very locallized, but don't let that intimidate you, instead ignore the spahgetti western like silence as you enter and proceed up to the lounge. Here you are greeted with a homely atmosphere with a back drop of a warm log fire. The refreshing lack of annoying background music has influenced a healthy banter zone. OH yes if someone has something entertaining to say then they'll say it here, although it often doesn't make sense after ten pints.
co-operative staff sound price list and great on match days. A refuge for the "constantly thirsty" right on your door step, lovely!
