The Pierhouse was formally known as shananigans until about 2 years ago. Since then it has undergone a massive transformation from old style dark wood interior to contempory pine through out with large bright skylights. I must admit I preffered the feel of the old style pub with fishing nets and old musical instruments etc on the walls, it was cosy and always had a roaring fire going throughout winter. There is still a fire in the new pub however and its very nice in the evenings for a meal. The food is excellent, and a steak by the fire on a weekday evening is lovely. Pubwise it's certainly aimed at the older crowd. Very comfortable decor and bar has a clean functional appearance. Music is backround chart fair, and a big screen shows all major sports events. This pub is definately worth a visit if your hungry in the early evening before you start drinking. Food is top rate. Ideal for a quiet drink with friends later on, but not for young people looking for other you!
The location is right on the harbour, and gorgeous on a sunny day to drink outside.
Good "local" boozer. Excellent pint. Local musicians at weekends. The place I arrange to meet the "old folks back home"
