Review: The Metropolitan is a classy, smooth, cool premises situated on Eden Quay in the heart of Dublin. The Doorstaff at the entrance welcomed us kindly on the Friday evening we dropped in for a quick pint, mainly to see what it was like. First thoughts were, that it was a bit small as the place seemed packed but a second glance ensured this was not the case, there was just a lot of people there. We made our way to the bar and while my colleague made his way to the toilets, which were a 'long' walk away I got down to the business of ordering having to do so from behind two bar seated people. To my surprise (and satisfaction) I got served immediately by a friendly bar girl. The pints were great and keenly priced. I managed to grab two seats and the bar and upon my colleagues return we sat and had a chat. There was music playing in the background but it wasn't off putting at all. We left after one but I do think The Metropolitan is worth of a return in the near future.

- A relatively newish addition to the Dublin pub scene, The Metropolitan is located on the increasingly fashionable Eden Quay. After a complete refurbishment of the previous establishment, the bar looks to have positioned itself as a watering hole for the IFSC work crowd on their way into the city centre. A rather modern wood-finished interior with a combination of lounge-style sofa seating result in a laid-back vibe. When we visited on an early Friday evening the atmosphere seemed strangely subdued, however as time went by the crowd increased and the pulse sped up. At four euro for a pint of Guinness and four-fifty for a pint of Heineken the prices are in no way outrageous. A relatively comprehensive list of cocktails failed to tempt us. Overall a relatively lively un-obnoxious modern-bar. A solid performer, yet at the end of the day nothing special.
