Description:
Casual.
Review:
The Market Bar is situated on Fade Street (just off Georges Street). There is a small beer garden with heaters as you enter into a large spacious area. The seating is laid out mainly in the centre. The service at the bar is first class as are the pints and they are not as expensive as other places in town. When we dropped in, on a Friday evening about 6.30, the place was packed to the rafters with a mainly after work crowd. There was no music playing and nothing but the sound of conversation and laughter in the air which was refreshing. There was also an upstairs and a restaurant at the back for those feeling peckish.
There is a smoking / beer garden area at the entrance on the way in with seats and 'shelves' on the walls so you can have somewhere to stand or sit.
All in all, it's a good spot for a quiet and conversational drink with mates.

Public Reviews:
1. A vast cavern of a bar with a soaring high roof, the Market Bar has a spacious feel to it. Immediately striking is the lack of background mood music and the hub-bub of conversation. A newish addition to the Dublin pub scene and located off Georges Street, this is aiming for the upper-end of the pub market without being too exclusive. Due to the spacious layout, the dining area located at the back, feels like a bit of an after-thought. The evening I visited the crowd was in the mid-twenties up range. The dcor seems a little understated, in that apparently not much has been done besides the addition of a number of plants. As I mentioned earlier this is a lively buzz of conversation which adds to the atmosphere. An unusual feature is that there is free wireless internet access available. Overall worth a visit, but unlikely to become a regular hangout.

2. This is a great place if you happen to be a farm yard animal! It is basically a large barn with a bar in it! There are grates in the floor so if you are wearing heels you will probably go flying at some stage or another. Great place for roaming cattle looking for some action!

3. I like the Market Bar because there's a great big smoking area outside and it's nice and warm in the summer, but I do have a problem with the bar staff. You can be waiting for a drink for 10 minutes at the bar and there may be only 20 drinkers! How can they manage not to see people waiting for drinks while they stand around and chat?? Otherwise, well worth a night out.

4. Certainly one of the most unusual bars in the city. Large barn type feel, noise seems to echo off the roof or something. Perfect for a large after work crowd. Two negatives: Service times at bar poor and wait for it....queues for the Gents toilets! 5/10.
