The Exchequer Bar is situated on Excehquer Street and is a grand little
pub for a couple of pints and a casual conversation. When you first enter,
it may seem a little small but this adds to the cosiness and besides there
is a large spacious parlour area out the back, you'll see it on the long
walk to the toilets, where we presume it hosts it's comedy and musical nights.
The barman on duty was very friendly and efficient, bringing the pints to us
at our seats, is there anything better than a barman bringing a pint of Guinness
to you rather than you waiting at the bar. Granted, when we were there, there
wasn't many people there and those that were seemed to be from the adjoing hotel,
but still quality service is quality service. We enjoyed our reasonably priced
pints before heading off to continue our day.
If you're looking for a quiet afternoon pint in old fashioned surroundings, you
won't go far wrong by heading into the Exchequer.
First thing I noticed the name has changed from Exchequer bar to the Ross and Walpole bar. They have changed the back part of the bar and it looks brill I went there one Sat night and they have a guy called Des singing who really has a laugh great music, the pints are alot better from what I remember I would give it 10 out of 10 i will be drinking there every weekend from now on and i suggest everyone to give it a try.
