Three rock is without a doubt a great spot for the traditional music. Its got a real sense of Irish about it and the staff are friendly ...quick and efficient. I think the interior design is quality with stone boulders hanging from the roof, it's all designed with wood and stone basically. I enjoy a few drinks there with my mates and I think people of all ages do! Worth a visit.
I didn't know what to expect when I went with friends to the Taylors Irish Night traditional music show recently (to be honest I thought it would be a bit superficial). Delighted to report that I was thoroughly entertained the entire night by a great group called the Merry Ploughboys and the Irish dancers. These guys are superb and play there most nights I think (maybe check when booking). Totally authentic songs and music and banter with the audience (despite the fact that there were a lot of tourists there - but the musicians didn't seem to take any notice). Good pre-show food available - not Michelin star quality - but good home cooking, and importantly for me, vegetarians are well looked after. I would prefer more comfortable chairs rather than tavern style stools, but the helpful staff got me a chair when I asked for one. Overall, well worth the trip from city center to Rathfarnham.
