Passing through Ranelagh we noticed Russells has a balcony on the first floor where you can smoke or sit out in the sun and have a beer, we'll be heading out to Ranelagh soon to review.
Great Pub. It has been there for years. Used to be the haunt for all the students from Atlantic College - now long gone. By the way - if anybody knows how to get in contact with Paddy Delaney, the retired senior lecturer from ATLANTIC COLLEGE - then please do get in touch with me at [email protected]. Paddy was a regular of Russells Bar, but has not been seen for a long time. Please get in touch with me if you know him.
Quite simply one of the most atmospheric bars on the southside... Especially great on the student nights (Wed/Thurs) and of course the weekend. Has been recently renovated and now features a unique terrace on first floor, overlooking Ranelagh Village... with tables and patio-heaters and a great buzz. Plush, stylish, modern interior... Surprisingly good value. DJ/Music on certain nights. Regular Crowd: D6/D4-ites and trendy students. Go to see and to be seen.
I was here 2 weeks ago when I was visiting Ranelagh and found this pub very relaxing and modern. The atmosphere was brilliant, and the layout of the pub was very good in that you could find a quiet corner to chat or be sitting in the middle of all the action. The staff and customers alike were very pleasant and friendly. Will definitely be returning here very soon!!!
I'm local but I rarely drink in this pub. Its not bad per say and the staff are good but the lay out is totally crazy and there is an exceptionally young crowd on the weekends. There are 2 or 3 far superior pubs in Ranelagh, Smyth's being the prince of pubs in the area.
