The Palace bar is located at the junction of Dame Street and
Westmoreland Street. It is a very relaxing pub ideal for a
couple of pints after a long day. Relax in the conversational
atmosphere. The pints are expensive but cheaper than most pubs
in the immediate vicinity. It stays open the regular Dublin
pub hours. The staff are friendly and very efficient. This pub
is good for a casual evening out with friends, chat and a couple
of pints. On Wednesdays, there is live trad music in the pub.
As a side note this is the pub where two members of the now
defunct (thank God!) boyband Five were arrested and charged
with hitting a member of the public.
Palace Bar is a gem hidden in the dense underbrush of Dublin nightlife. The staff was extremely friendly and the warm atmosphere of the upstairs pub area made this a venue for many return visits during my trip to Ireland. Good stuff!
I was there for the first time yesterday and I`m sure, that I`ll be back. Very friendly and witty staff, great atmosphere and perfect live music. And delicious beer of course! I really enjoyed my evening in The Palace Bar.
Lovely atmosphere very warm and friendly. On our 2nd visit to Dublin my partner sought out The Palace Bar, after enjoying our first visit there, he proposed to me, it was the most romantic gesture I have ever had. It will always be a very special place for us. We will be back, maybe on our honeymoon. x
Another lovely bar. Main bar a little small. It is connected to the Bridge Bar. Palace is probably nicer but would rather sit downstairs in Bridge as there is more room and toilets are closer!!
Went there on Friday night and was disapointed as we could not even hear the band over people's voices
Nice friendly environment...crazy atmosphere after 9 o' clock. I'm in love with the bartender...!!
One of the best and cheapest pints of Guinness! Fantastic staff! Great pub!
The Palace Bar is an intimate little pub located just off Westmoreland as you enter Temple Bar. Modestly proportioned, this is a pub which it me seems a little out of place located so close to the centre of the city. Relaxed and laidback, this a cozy refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city, where one can dawdle am enjoyable evening away. Spread out over two floors, this is a pub where good conversation is the order of the day. While a reasonable number of people can make the place seem busy, this is a pub, which rarely gets uncomfortably busy. With a number of amusing quotes on the wall alongside the more traditional pub memorabilia, this is a pub, which I personally regard as a classic. Why this is so I'm not sure but I would certainly recommend you visit and investigate for yourself.
This place is like a magnet to me and it's easy to see why people come back for more. The Guinness is sublime and reasonably priced, the conversation flows as fast as the Guinness and the crowd consists of regulars, tourists, musos, press folk - you name it, they're probably here. When I die, prop me up in the corner with a pint and I'll be happy for eternity!
Nice pub but a little cramped sometimes. Although does do an excellent pint of Guinness. Some really nice people in front of and behind bar with some thoughtful quotes on the wall to mull over with your pint.
