- Time warp! Lovely pub, staff, pint and what a history. We were made welcome by the barman despite our funny accents, and had a laugh with him. Tried the snuff, and the excellent Guinness. Loved the lack of piped music and absence of slot machines. Very relaxing, recommended boozer.

- This is a great pub - good Guinness, good chat and a Good mix of people. It is on the tourist trail but you can be guaranteed to meet some Irish people. The pub has two bars and a back lounge (with some nice leather seats). It can get quite busy so get in early if you want a seat. Trivia point is that the pub has appeared on TV and in a couple of films.

- A must visit!! Great Guinness, great staff! Classic old Dublin pub! You can feel the presence of Joyce and many other old spirits! Very difficult to get yourself out the door!!!

- I visited Mulligans a couple of years ago as I was aware of its reputation as one of Dublin's finest and most historic pubs and I was very disappointed as I was unable to see much to commend it. I was in Dublin in August 2004 and I decided to give it another chance in case I had missed something the first time. It was a hot Tuesday afternoon and there were five or six people in there, all on their own. I thought that I had walked into a sponsored silence as there wasn't a sound to be heard and I suppose that is the appeal of the place. It is certainly the place to go to for a quiet pint in surroundings that look as though they haven't changed for about fifty years. This pub would appeal to a lot of people but it wasn't my cup of tea.

- One of the cheapest for the Guinness and one of the best pints of Guinness, but one world of warning when you go in you are entering of the tourist beat so keep your mouth shut and your wits about you. Do this and the atmosphere is the real deal. People will sometimes just start singing without music and any prompting.

Mulligans of Poolbeg Street is one of the most famous pubs in Dublin. It has an old style authentic wooden decor and the bar has seemingly seen little change over the years. The bar area is very relaxed and quiet and ideal for a couple of pints and a chat during afternoons on the weekend. The lounge on the other hand is the total opposite. It fills up with a twenty something crowd bopping around to the latest music. Pints are reasonably priced, service is a bit laboured because of the crowds, although it is a good pub to spend the night.

- Mulligan's of Poolbeg Street is a very old establishment, existing in the time of James Joyce and mentioned in Ulysses (I suppose that's a recommendation!). It has a wonderful exterior and has not changed too much during the years. However, it is not trendy but, on the other hand, you won't find many tourists venturing that far east.

- Another of Dublin's very, very old pubs. A no nonsense sort of place. Mixture of locals and tourists. And they've recently banned mobile phones. This place could be better. It's almost an institution in Dublin. More effort please.
