Another pub which should get an injection of business thanks to the Luas is
M Hughes on Chancery Street, get the tram to the Four Courts and hey presto
there you are. Now you might think by looking at it that you'd know what to
exepect going through the door but trust me, you won't (unless ofcourse you've
been there, before).
This place is immaculately clean and one of the most friendliest pub I've been
to in a long time. It has a large spacious lounge at the front and the back kind
of bottle necks in the middle but there's another entrance/exit there.
We dropped in on a Friday evening and there was a good crowd but the pub was not
packed to the rafters - which was good.
As we took our seats at the bar, the barman approached and we placed our orders.
Having found out they done toasted sandwiches, they were duly ordered and they
were munched down without much hesitation.
The pints were fine and the price's okay.
There was also a fine Trad playing on the night, who were not intrusive but if
you did want to listen to them you could.
All said, a little nugget of a pub so what are you waiting for?
Whenever I am back in Dublin I always head for Hughes. It has a lovely feel about it. It never gets overcrowded and the music is always brilliant. Cheaper than going to any southside music pub! Saturday night a must! Enjoy.
Wandered in to this establishment at 8am with a few colleagues after a 12 hr shift. Great craic with an interesting mix of drinkers (soon to be crims and barristers). Best pint of Guinness in Dublin. Also serve a decent fry-up.
