Best beer garden in Dublin. Once the sun is out it always shines on you. Staff are great. Pints are great and you always get some good tucker from the lad in the kitchen. All round quality pub.
Slap bang in the heart of this trendy southside village is a pub that has stood the test of time yet refused to give into the demands of the blow in yuppie. Mc Donaghas is the last pub for the "real" person in Dalkey, where people won't swan around the establishment in their designer clothes flashing their car keys.
With a warm peat fire in the winter, beer gardens front and rear during the summer and live traditional music midweek you can't but fall in love with charmed laid back atmosphere. This being said at the same time you're tempted by the wide range of authentic food and wine available on the Australian menu from their Outback restaurant to the rear of the premises. Wheelchair accessible, this is a pub to be enjoyed far from the madding crowd.
What can one say about McDonaghs? Unbelievable that this pub has stood timeless amid the trendy, upmarket, mindless, posers, rip-off merchant establishments that have sprung up in the Southside. The food in the Outback which is at the back of McDonaghs is truly good value for money but it's the relaxed easy pace of the pub itself that has the most appeal. This is a home from home. Long may it last!
