Description:
Casual Pub with Music and Late Bar.
Review:
MacTurcaills is situated on Tara Street a bit off the beaten track but is well worth a visit. It is part of a trio of pubs which also includes Hoggen Green and Askel McThurkels. The atmosphere inside is very lively with the latest chart music being played throughout the night. The crowd is generally youthful which lends to the exuberent atmosphere. It is big enough to accomadate the large crowd and there are a lot of places to put your drink down and have a boogey. It is open late at the weekends. As with all Dublin pubs the price is a little expensive but they do taste good. The staff are friendly but can get stressed due to the volume of people shouting in their orders as there is generally only one or two of them. This pub is ideal for a lads (or girls) night out as there are plenty patrons of the opposite sex to eye up and chat to.

Public Reviews:
- Just thought I would let you know that this pub has wheelchair access.

- We go there most of our nights out. we find the staff most friendly and helpful.the food must be the best in dublin carvery and evening menue. tricia is great she looks after her clients so well and as for the rest of the staff they are really good. the toilets are always so clean.the craic is great. and as for talent outsade the bar and not bad inside we would reccomend this fab place to any of our friends. we are having our christmas party there, we have booked it already.

- This is a cool place and one of the only places in Dublin still where a girl can go and have fun without getting hassled - no cattlemarket feel - although I have scored here more times than anywhere else and the men are all loverly!
Cheap cocktails after a hard day in the office are well worthwhile checking out and the music means that there's no need to go to a club 'cos it stays open all hours.
Great for parties and we are already booked in for Xmas booze up as it is one of the best places who cater for all your needs (music/food/themes/etc) at no extra charge - Just talk to Trish the owner who'll sort it all out for you no hassle.
Excellent Fun - Zero Hassle
My fave

- Music's good enough for a dance off..... I lost but the competition was fierce savage.

- This is one of the few modern pubs where you still get the service, atmosphere and quality pint of a real Irish pub!
The difference - you can enjoy all this within the comfortable and immaculately stylish establishment. The food is excellent and really good value.
The clientele is probably the best looking in Dublin - with many Celebes dropping in for the low-key pint including Westlife's boys, another regular is Colin Farrell when he is in town!
The reason so many people (in cluding me) go back to this pub despite the growing variety of pubs in Dublin has to be the craic!
This really is somewhere where everybody knows your name- much of which familiarity is down to the friendly management who make a point of personally getting to know customers - a rarity in the world of the commercial superpub!
A fantastic place for parties as you get special treatment and looked after with great care by management and staff.
Music varies - more relaxing on week nights and earlier on - but erupts into a groove fest after 9pm on weekends.
Cocktails are amazing and they even throw in a Tom Cruise look alike bar man.
Not to be missed - especially if you want to party!

- Not sure what the other reviewers look for in a pub, but there really isn't anything special about this place.
Like all superpubs, once 10pm comes, the music gets jacked up and you can't hear a thing (might be good if Westlife are visiting). The service is fairly good and the door staff are less lobotomised than most.

- Had my party in MacThurkels on a Saturday night. The pub itself was very full, overly so, as if the bouncers where not controlling numbers at all. By midnight you could not move very far without being in somebody's way (I mean inches here). There were huge queues at the bar about 3 deep and getting a drink was a hassle every time.
The clientele were not rough but they were very young. The policy seems aimed at the 18 - 21 year old age group of whom there were many.
The moral of the story seems to be to go early (7:30 to be sure) to secure seating and have a group of friends with you who'll make sure all seats arekept all night.

- I have to agree with some of the other reviews of this place, it really is nothing special at all - after 10pm the prices are jacked up by about 50-60c each, the music is incredibly loud, even when the place is empty - just another typical superpub really. Bouncers are fine and the talent is good, but other than that it really doesn't have anything going for it.

- My favourite bar in Dublin. Super. Best pints of Guinness and calm, relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff.

- Compared to other pubs this is really well run ,with friendly staff and secure atmosphere. Good also is the fact they have stopped putting prices up when it gets late. I relly find it easy to relax here and be myself. Toilets have to be cleanest in Dublin and never a bad pint. 9/10

- Highly recommended!! My favourite pub in Dublin, without doubt. All staff icluding door staff are friendly. Inside is very spacious but can get packed very quickly on weekends especially Saturdays. If you want a seat you'd have to get there really early on weekends. The music is really good, DJ plays a mix of good oldies with the recent chart songs. Drink is not over-priced. Altogether, No complaints!

- Great place with a very youthful atmostphere. Beautiful clientelle overall. Great music- with everything from chart, to fun classic oldies. Very clean- barstaff quite efficient. It can be a little difficult to find somewhere to sit, so arrive early! Friendly patrons make it common to end up with numerous new friends in a night. An absolute standby when nothing else seems right...

- A nice place but not overly busy even at the weekends. Too far away from nightclubs to pull the punters. Good place for a mixed group to enjoy a few drinks. Good place to meet a mixed group but because it's a bit out of the way from the main action, it's unlikely to get too lively, though that can be a good thing.
