Walking into Hartigans is like stepping back in time as this Leeson Street
pub does not seemed to have changed at all over the years. The rustic interior
and the wooden seats made me think I had not walked into a Leeson Street pub
at all. The service was good and the pints, though a little expensive, were
fine. There was a big TV showing the football which many of the punters were
enjoying. The pub wasn't packed (we were there on a Friday night) and we were
able to get a seat. All said, if you're looking for a quick pint and a seat or
somewhere to begin a night out, this would be a handy pub go to.
This pub ("Harto's") is legendary. It's owned by the same family as own Alfie Mulligan's a couple of doors up but it was the family's original pub. Little changes in Harto's although there's a rear "beer garden" now -for which read backyard. What never changes is the great pint of Guinness. There are 5 Guinness taps behind the bar and the lines are cleaned regularly to ensure the quality. Harto's is a rock-solid, unashamedly basic, traditional family-run pub, of the kind that is now fast vanishing. Get there while it lasts!!!
