The Ha'penny Bridge Inn is situated on Wellington Quay
in the city centre. It has a real Dublin atmosphere inside
with little or no renovation done in the last few years which
enables it to keep it's unique atmosphere. The staff are 'sound'
and the price of a pint is very reasonable.
The upstairs bar is a good spot to catch a variety of live music.
Although, seemingly small, it does get a good crowd and we should
say that every Tuesday night Open Mic Session (in the Upstairs Bar)
- The Battle of the Axe - where up and coming acts can get up
and can perform anything from comedy to music to drama.
The winner is voted by the audience and receives the Lucky Duck Award.
Admission is €5 (with flyer) but is well worth it.
There are also various other performances found upstairs during the week
including comedy nights, blues nights etc.
So if you're looking for a quiet drink (downstairs) or a live
'original' entertainment (upstairs) this is the place for you.
Another reviewer said this is a place with heart. I can't say it any better. A great pub that somehow subtly eschews all the touristy hub-bub of Temple Bar. They pour a very nice pint as well. One of my favorites.
A fabulous pub! Didn't go upstairs, but downstairs was great for chatting with friends over a quiet pint, be it Guinness, cider. or whatever flavor of water you call beer. Good prices and company make it a great place to be..
The Halfpenny Bridge is a great pub on various Nights of the Week, on A Monday you have songwriters night on a tuesday you have a mixed bag of music and comedy with some great new up in coming music and comedy acts, you might even see me there once in a while.
Gas craic! My local on the Liffey. Owners Mick and Liam as warm and friendly as one could ask for. Great pints well-poured at a fair and proper price. Wise souls meet here before a night in Temple Bar.
There wasn't any entertainment on the night i was in as far as i know. A lovely typical, warm, Irish, city pub. It's full of friendly regulars, gives a sense of community. Barstaff are helpful, although it was mainly full of old men we still managed to get to know some very entertaining characters! A visit to this pub has a real feel good factor.
Visited three years ago. Had a great time with a great bunch of locals. Always good for a chat, always good to advise on the best things to do and see in Dublin. Nice cosy place with a warm heart.
The hapennybridge is the place to go for great traditional music and craic, Friday night when I was there was one of the best nights in all my visits to Dublin. The musicians were first class and true to traditional standards. Tuesday night, what can I say, go there and experience it for yourself. The staff are very friendly and, importantly, quick. By the way, the Guinness was great.
This pub I found by accident but what a little gem, great Guinness, four euros a pint but worth it. The guy behind the bar was great, pulls your pint tells you to sit down and he will bring it over. Stops for a chat and will answer as many questions as you like, if he does not know the answer he will sing out the question and some one will know the answer.
