Hidden away but centrally located, the Dame Tavern is a gem of a pub. It can get jam-packed at the weekends so you'll probably have to stand but this adds to the atmosphere. The pints are relatively inexpensive the service is swift by the friendly staff. We grabbed a seat at the bar and revelled in the party atmosphere as what seemed like an impromptu ballad session began in earnest. It was a roaring success as the guitar player and his singers were excellent. The clientele was friendly and you're never too far away from a conversation. All said, the Dame Tavern is an excellent and lively pub, which may be a little on the small side but if you get a seat or barstool, it will become a home for the night.
This was our favorite pub in Dublin. Went in for one but stayed for several. The bartender and patrons were great. We really enjoyed meeting them. We'll be back.
