This pub is a fantastic place to drink and have loads of crack. The staff are very nice and the pint of guinness is the best in Dublin. They show most sporting events and have an upstairs lounge with great entertainment at weekends.
One of (if not the) best pubs to go for an all day Saturday Guinness drinking session in Dublin. Bookies and a chipper around the corner so there's no need to stray more than 20 yards from the place. Solid staff and relatively cheap pint. Manys the Saturday I spent in there, watching the football and ripping up stupid wagers whilst downing pint after pint of quality black sauce.
This pub has been a fulcrum of my life for nearly 20 years. I felt morally obliged to write this review. If you like a decent pint and a good atmosphere then you can't go wrong. Not only is it cheap but the pint really is one of the best you'll get in Dublin. If you are into your football then this is a great place to watch it. Lots of banter without the "SuperPub - caters for Mancs only" large screen nonsense you get in other places. Thankfully the footie/horse-racing/golf doesn't ruin the good atmosphere. Bar-staff are truly top-notch being both tolerant of drunken silliness without accepting drunken scumbag behaviour. Another quirk that this fine establishment displays is that it seems to be a truly offensive place to most females. Thats not to say that females don't go there but the ones that do are generally of the Guinness drinking variety. So....the moral of the story is that if you hate "modern bars", love a good pint and want to meet local characters such as "The Salamander" and "The Bus Dodger"......this is for you. Go on the Fish Sheds !!!
