Description:
Late Bar with Music
Winner of the Jameson Pub of the Year 2002. Cafe en seine is one of the most spectacular cafe bars in Europe. This cosmopolitan bar located on Dawson Street is unique in terms of ambience and style. Designed with a decadent art deco theme that incorporates features such as a Louis X1Vth bust, a French Hotel lift, and a glass atrium with 40ft real trees. You get the feeling you have been transported back to the heady days of early 19th century Paris.
The ambience is relaxed yet always buzzing with a great selection of Jazz sounds in the background. Every Sunday from 2:30-4:30 is the Light Jazz Brunch with live Jazz music while you eat and every Monday from 10pm-12pm is the Big Band/Swing Night. The Bar has three floors each with a bar, the first floor even hosting a grand piano. Cafe en Seine is a must visit. This pub is wheelchair accessible.
Review:
Cafe En Seine is situated on Dawson Street in Dublin a mere five minutes from Grafton Street. We went in early Friday evening when the place was filled with 'mainly' the after work crowd. The downstairs area is fairly spacious with good seating arrangements although later in the night we would imagine there would be difficulty in getting somewhere to sit. The dress code is mainly stylish and there were quite a few very good looking people. At night, we have noticed at times that large queues do form to enter and while this put us off for a while having finally made it in, we could see why. The decor in Cafe En Seine is marvellous and as it has been said to have been the most expensive refurbishment in Dublin, we can see why, it is decked in splendor. The barstaff were really good, even though I was three deep behind bar drinkers, the barman prompted me to order immediately even putting a shamrock on my Guinness. The pints were fine but the main gripe was the price off them - they were very expensive. There was also a good choice on the food menu and we were reliably informed that there is more room upstairs for late. So, if you like drinking in stylish surroundings and are not overly worried about going home with empty pockets, this would be a great place for a night out with friends.
There are also two or three tables with seating outside which if you smoke you can avail of but you wouldn't really be inclined to spend a cold night sitting at them just for the sake of a smoke.

Public Reviews:
- Really nice spot but just ridiculously overpriced!

- Everytime when I´m in Dublin I used to go to this place and I loved it. My last visit was Sunday 15th of January 06. I´m sorry to say but this place isn´t recommendable anymore. They removed the sofa´s in the front area which changes the cosy atmosphere into a commonplace. Although there´s lots of staff around the service becomes very poor and unfriendly which I found a bit annoying considering the prices.

- One of the first pubs I was taken to when I arrived. I loved it, it was on the expensive side, but in my opinion your paying for the scenery, both the pub's and the people... especially the women, lots of beautiful women. Been here a month and still my favourite place to go for a few pints. Make sure to dress stylish or you would probably feel out of place.

- A very big pub with very unusual décor, even if it was is Paris. Good place and has quite a good mix of people and most of them are attractive. If possible try and get a high seat against the wall and watch the show.

- Now, we have to admit this place looks great, great style and if you close your eyes and ignore the Dublin accent in the background u might think you are in paris.... I enjoyed having few drinks here one early afternoon, with a sandwich and it was great, the place was airy, not loud and the stuff seemed friendly enough...I would never go for a night out though u know all this air kisser are around showing off their expensive clothes! No, merci !

- I have never seen a place like it outside Praque, just mind-boggling great staff but the doormen must be the best in Europe, but for me their main asset has to be head doorman Peter, I was made feel so wellcome and he gave us a full tour which made it even more special. so full marks Cafe en Seine.

- Leave it and never go back. The magnificence of the building the design, the structure. A wonderful peep hole into what huge amounts of money will do to an interior. But the people, oh what it does to the people. Sane educated people step inside and become arrogant, petty and ultimately silly. Go there to people watch, examine their illusions of money. Leave and laugh loudly. But never ever go back..

- A lively spot certainly especially at weekends - expect to queue to get in after nine! Lots of hair gel and brand name clothes labels on display and that's just the men. A great place to people watch and well worth a visit.
