Alfie Mulligans is a large spacious pub situated on Leeson Street in Dublin and
on the Friday evening we popped in, it was empty. There must have been about 8
of us in total which was a shame really cos I can imagine this would be a truly
excellent pub when the place is full. The pints (although expensive) and service
are both fine and I also noticed some toasted sandwiches being made. There is also
a large screen which we presume is used for sports etc. It's hard to write an
accurate review of the pub as it was so empty but basically it would be a good
spot for meeting friends and having a laugh.
Great Music venue. Very nice staff and the manager is very warm & welcoming. Old style pub but thats what i like. Similar to toners on baggott street. Bring a gang and you will be looked after. I had a few office parties there and we got vip treatment. Its nice to have alfies back.
This pub is soon to have music in it, the proper acoustic traditional Irish kind, the real deal too, should make a difference.
I have a confession to make... I've been drinking in this pub since the late 1970s (when it was an O'Dwyer's house). It has sadly gone away down in recent years, although in fact this whole area suffered once the "pull" went across the Liffey in the 90s and the awful Leeson Street strip became (thankfully)an irrelevancy. Alfie Mulligan's nowadays is never even half full and doesn't open on weekends. The pints are still fine but expensive considering the lack of ambience, and the midday food is middling-to-mediocre. The toilets need a lot of attention - which they don't get. Sadly, a pub that has seen much better days.
Dump but good crack when full on a Friday night. One Warning - DON'T EAT THE FOOD or USE THE JAX !!!
