Battle of the Axe Open Mic

One of the most popular Open Mic sessions in Dublin is the Battle of The Axe which is held upstairs in The Ha'penny Bridge
It is on every Tuesday and entry charge is only � 6 (� 5 with a concession).
There is usually a variety of performances on the night from music and song to drama and comedy so you never know what to expect.The doors open at 9p.m. and the show begins at 9.30.
Performances can be hit and miss as new and experienced acts vie for the No.1 Spot thus winning the Lucky Duck Award as voted by the audience on the night.

Names such as Dave McSavage (Late Late Show and Vicar St), Paddy Casey (Meteor Irish Music Award winner 2004), James Goldsbury, Carl Spain & Neil Delimer (RTE comedy Award winners, Eddie Naessens (ex Fair City & Bull Island, & RTE comedy finalist), Declan Rooney (RTE comedy finalist), Jerome Holland (RTE comedy finalist), Peter Fox (2FM finalist), Crusty (Hot Press finalist), Pennytration (Today FM 2004 finalist), Pat Fitzgerald (Discovery Channel) and Rick Bronson (Canadian TV). Over 1000 performers have graced its stage since its conception nearly 8 Years ago. Not a lot of people know that the Ha' Penny Bridge Inn has also housed such noted acts as Dermot Morgan (RIP) [Father Ted], Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne, Alan Davis (Cracker), Alex Lyons (BBC produced writer), Pat McDonald (Don't Feed the Gondola's), The Nualas, Anne Lillis, Anne Gildea, Tara Flynn, Barry Murphy (Apres Match) and Deirdre O' Kane.

The bar was a popular frequenting place for Thin Lizzy in their early days and the pub was once owned by the great Irish tenor Josef Locke. The Present battleoftheaxe.com continues to introduce fresh new acts to the entertainment world. Progressive acts to watch out for include singer/songwriters Damien Davis, James Cramer, Chris Morrin and Peter Doran. Comedians making strong waves are John Colleary, Bernard O'Shea, Tom Blanchfield and MC/Comedian Andrew Stanley is mixing it with the best at the moment.
